The history of the care home in Britain begins in 1936, when the first- known Almshouse was built in York. The story goes that King Aethelstan , at that time King of the English , provided funding for house seeing clergymen of an older incarnation  of York using their own money to care for the elderly and sick. “Alms” mean to give to others through virtue and compassion. 

In todays society, to simply put it, it is a care that takes place in “someone’s own home”The term covers the variety of services that a homecare provider or care professional can offer when someone needs support with their daily life, but wishes to stay in their home instead into going to a group home or hospital.
